The ‘Cosmic Christmas’ show is a completely musical show. Enjoy popular holiday songs to fill you with cheer! This digital light show features holiday classics, some new hits, and a few fun oddities, from Rudolph and Frosty to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Mariah Carey and from Paul McCartney to Bing Crosby. All are set to stunning festive visuals on the planetarium’s dome. Fun for all ages (suggested age 5 and older.) We encourage you to sing (or hum) with the music!! Warning: This show is not for you if flashing lights and bold moving patterns trigger Photosensitive Epilepsy (PSE).
‘The Star of Bethlehem’ show tells the traditional story of the Christmas Star using possible astronomical events to determine the actual year and time of year of the birth. The show takes you back to the little town of Bethlehem of long ago, in the endeavor to investigate the question “What was the “Star” that guided the Wise Men. Due to calendar revisions, the timing of the star is important.
This third planetarium show explores the relationship between ‘Earth, Moon and Sun’ with the help of Coyote, an amusing character adapted from Native American oral traditions. Coyote has many misconceptions about our home planet and its most familiar neighbors. His confusion about the universe makes viewers think about how Earth, Moon and Sun work together as a system and learn to distinguish between myths and science.
You can find more information at astroprof.com on the web about each of the shows along with maps, admission cost, and how to reserve you seat (required). You’ll pay at the door.
